The Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SIE) Lab at UNC School of Social Work supports students and faculty in exploring, designing, and implementing new ways of addressing complex social problems. Among its activities, SIE Lab has helped Master of Social Work students launch social venture startups.
You'll learn from prominent guest speakers including founders and leaders from many of the country’s most innovative companies, while co-programming activities will connect you with representatives from startups and established firms headquartered in the Bay Area. Together with lectures, case studies, and simulations, these experiences will give you an in-depth understanding of how new enterprises are formed, inspiring you as you work with teammates to create and pitch your own venture.

Melissa & Doug Entrepreneurs is year-long intensive program designed for current Duke students who are committed to launching and growing their ventures. It is a not-for-credit program; if selected, you will be expected to balance your coursework and other activities with participation in the program.

Managed by the New Ventures group, this program is available to all newly created startup companies that license university intellectual property.
